About the store
I have been in the classroom in Texas for 14 years teaching French. I taught High School French 1, 2, 3, AP, and Literature for 11 years before moving to Junior High. I had NO IDEA how much I would love teaching the younger grades but I have definitely found my forever home as a Junior High (7th-9th grade) French Teacher. My first teaching job after college was teaching English in a small town called Luxeuil-les-Bains in France as an assistante de langue - It was the best thing I could have done for myself! I have been using Comprehensible Input and Proficiency Based Teaching for about 5 years and I have learned so much about myself, my students, and the process of Second Language Acquisition. I have grown 3 thriving French programs in my 15 years in the classroom, each program I took over was struggling or had been stagnant for many years - within 2 years of starting each job I had grown the program beyond what the adminstration expected. I want to help other teachers do exactly that - Grow the Thriving program of their dreams!

Teaching style

My style is a little crazy, a lot of fun, and NEVER boring! I love digging into the work with my students and seeing their passions come alive! I love getting into Culture with students and seeing them light up about the seemingly smallest differences!

My own education history

I grew up in the same school district I now serve. I have a BA in French from Texas State University - San Marcos (Eat 'em Up CATS) and a MA in French Literature with a Concentration on The Middle Ages from the University of North Texas (Go Mean Green - CAW)

Additional biographical information

I am married to my wonderful, hardworking husband who is a Full Time Camp Gladiator Trainer. We have a spoiled orange and white house cat (ok I have a spoiled cat that he has learned to love) and we are what most of co-workers call "fitness nuts". We're not really "fitness nuts" we do eat ice cream and fast food on occasion- but we are both certified personal trainers that enjoy the outdoors and sweating WAY more than most people do!
