The Identity Iceberg is a great resource for developing an understanding of our own identities and recognizing how we may or may not be aware of the identities of others. The discussion prompted by this activity can help students build empathy and understanding for others with different identities and lived experiences.

This worked perfectly for my students as a journal entry early in the year. Could be a springboard to a poetry assignment, character assessments in novels, and much more.

My students completed this page after I taught a lesson on Gender Identities. This activity allowed many different avenues for completion. Some students drew pictures, some students wrote their ideas and some made a collage.

Hi Rebecca. Thank you so much for this review! I'm delighted to hear that your students found it helpful and that it was flexible for all of the possible ways your students wanted to present their identities. :-)
