Forensics Unit 12: DNA Evidence (Growing Bundle)

It was okay. If you are looking for a unit to knock out the DNA standards without much prep, this will do it. If you are looking for engagement and student learning outcomes, this is not it. Somebody could absolutely get this as a basis and then add some additional resources and activities with it and have a much more robust unit. But by itself, it is pretty dry and not engaging. I broke the slides up into sections and created a guided notes document to go with it (there is no guided notes included). Even still, the kids were at the Donut Stop (meaning they were staring at me with their eyes glazed over and not really engaged). I actually wound up editing quite a few slides because the verbiage was not really accessible for my students which is annoying because I buy slides specifically because I do not want to make them myself. The assignments themselves are good and aligned with the quiz/test at the end. But my students were not successful on the quiz. If I use any portion of this unit next year, it will be heavily altered because the products in this unit were not a good fit for the needs of my students.
