About the store
I began my teaching journey as a toddler and preschool teacher, a role I greatly enjoyed, before moving into a kindergarten program and later becoming a head teacher for school-age students. Working with such a wide range of ages gave me invaluable perspective and prepared me for the path ahead. After the birth of my first child, I founded and operated an independent child care and early learning program. This experience allowed me to partner closely with families, building trusting relationships while nurturing children’s curiosity and love of learning. From there, I expanded my work to include tutoring students and mentoring teachers, all while continuing my own professional development. When COVID-19 arrived, I made the decision to homeschool my own three children, who are currently in grades seven, ten, and a freshman in college. Homeschooling has been both the most rewarding and the most challenging endeavor of my career. While I sometimes miss teaching within larger educational settings, I am deeply grateful for the opportunities homeschooling has provided for both my children and myself. Today, I continue to share my work on Teachers Pay Teachers, driven by a passion for creating meaningful, engaging resources for fellow educators. My goal is to keep building authentic connections within the teaching community and to contribute to the field in new and creative ways, even as my professional journey has taken unexpected turns.

Teaching style

I take a hands-on approach to teaching while thoughtfully weaving in technology to enhance learning. At the heart of my philosophy is “Maslow before Bloom” - because I believe that every child deserves to have their basic needs met before they can truly thrive academically. Collaboration is something I deeply value. As a former team teacher, I loved the opportunity to grow and learn alongside my colleagues, and I continue to seek out connections with passionate, goal-driven educators. Building a supportive, community-oriented teaching network isn’t just important to me - it’s what fuels my drive to create the best learning environment possible for students.

Additional biographical information

I married my college sweetheart and together we have three wonderful children. I taught for 15 years before returning to school, and when the pandemic arrived, I transitioned into homeschooling. Along the way, I faced and overcame a brain tumor, an experience that reshaped my outlook on both life and learning. Through it all, I’ve come to see life as an ever-evolving adventure...one filled with resilience, growth, and gratitude.
