About the store
I began my teaching career in 4th grade where I spent 4 years teaching. I am now a 1st grade teacher. This is my 6th year teaching 1st grade. I create resources all the time for my own classroom so I can have exactly what I want. I decided it was time to list the things I create on my own teachers pay teachers account.

Do you love Pete the Cat as much as me? Chances are the kids in your class do as well. This is a great resource for kids to be able to see all the places they will be going this year. This would be perfect for kindergarten or even first grade (where I will use it). New kids to the school will appreciate this and even the kids who came in kindergarten will appreciate knowing how to get places from their new classroom. First thing I will do is read the book Pete the Cat Rockin’ in my School Shoe

If you are anything like me centers can be sometimes overwhelming when you are trying to make them meaningful. After years of just having a “house center” I am ditching that and creating a monthly store. The first month will be a school store where students can play and pretend to work in a school store. This will teach them taking turns, their school supplies, and allow them to use their imagination. Please check for my weekly center tasks as a part of this centers bundle. I hope this makes our

This resource is perfect for back to school or any time during the school year to talk about how to deal with emotions. Kids have big feelings. I love this book so much! It teaches that you can’t put so much pressure on yourself and when you do, you need to talk time for yourself. Maybe a lesson I need to remember myself. This resource was made to reach the younger kids. This is a great resource to teach about the calm spot (if you have one in your classroom). Read the book and discuss what y

I LOVE the book Miss Nelson is Missing. I usually bring it out after a few weeks of school when the “honeymoon phase” is over. This year I am going to do things a little differently. I spend the whole week teaching expectations for them. I often do not think about their expectations for ME. I am going to read them the book “Miss Nelson is Missing” and have a class discussion about a good teacher, vs. a bad teacher and create an anchor chart. Then they are going to think about what they can do

Teaching style

I love giving children options. Not all students learn in the same way or on the same day. It is important to me to make everything fun and engaging. With county mandates for curriculum it is hard to put my own flair on teaching but I work hard to do that every day.

Additional biographical information

I am a Christian, a fire wife, a mom of two amazing little girls and two rowdy chocolate labs. I am a North Carolina teacher and I bleed Black and Gold for App State. Sundays are for church and football. Shopping, sweets, craft beer and crafting can heal any bad day. Growing up both of my parents were teachers. My mom taught elementary and my dad taught 8th grade Social Studies. Wanting to be different and forge my own path I started as a Interior Design major. I quickly realized my calling for teaching overpowered my desire to be different. The rest is history. I recently transferred schools within my county to the school closest to my home, also the school my mother retired from. I was lucky enough to be placed in her old classroom with her amazing assistant that she retired with.
