Description
This is a guided notes resource that I use as an introduction to the 7th grade Number System Unit. I was finding that so much language in 7th grade is around operations and conceptual understandings using rational numbers, but I never develop the vocabulary to identify the difference between a rational number and integer.
Therefore, these notes include classifying rational numbers to use the correct language and hopefully bridge that gap. Typically, 8th grade starts with classifying numbers within the Real Number System, and this is a segue into that without irrational numbers. This resource also includes additive inverse vocabulary and examples on how opposite values add together to make 0 (7.NS.2a).
This note sheet can be hole punched and placed right into a student's binder or copied at 70 - 75% to create a size that would fit into a composition sized interactive notebook.
