I’m Tanya G. Marshall, a former classroom teacher turned curriculum designer, and I started The Butterfly Teacher from one of the most challenging seasons of my life. Four months after my husband passed away, I stepped into my first 2nd-grade classroom while raising our 5-month-old son. With limited time and resources, I had to create engaging, effective, and rigorous learning materials that truly worked. It was a struggle—but like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis, the transformation was beautiful. Now, I want to share that same hope of powerful, transformative learning with fellow teachers.

I also have a passion for interior design and spending time outdoors, both of which inspire the way I approach teaching—bringing beauty, structure, and a sense of adventure into every resource I create.
